Who's Afraid of the Big Black Block?
It's coming back to me. Little by little, I am beating back the Big Black Block and writing again. It took a while, and I still couldn't pinpoint the cause, but I felt the author-kick whirring inside me once again, the way it used to! So don't be surprised when I start releasing a barrage of short fics. Probably a one shot here and there as well.
As you may find out browsing through this site, I have released a new fic. It's a short fic from the line-up I wrote out before in a previous blurb. It's not done yet, but the beginning, middle and end is as clear as day, the way it hadn't been for stories and me in the past few months. I admit, it'll get done sooner than "Two Weddings", and I'll probably dish out more stories before I finish "2WCC", but this is good for me, because Zen is back!!
I believe I haven't formally introduced Zen. Zen's my muse and exists only in my twisted mind. He's my champion against the Big Black Block. He's tall, lanky, cynical and he's talkative. He may not seem much at a glance, but he's the guy I've been talking to in my head and he tells me if something is funny, lame, or brilliant. Zen's my hero, and I named my Documents folder after him.
So I'm back, so's Zen, therefore expect more in the days to come.

Okay, so I know I haven't been posting anything new lately. Suffice it to say that I've been very busy and I just went through the worse case of writer's block ever to hit me on the head. Believe me, I tried everything. I even subscribed to the TheWriter'sLife.com newsletter, hoping that the regular quotes would put me in the mood. However well those quote managed to put a smile on my face, it didn't make me a better writer, and I turned up crap after crap of bad writing. You should take a peek at my "Zen" file in my PC, it's a f*&king shit load.
"Better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self," quote Cyril Connolly. I wanna believe her. I really do. But there's this voice in my head that says, "Keep telling yourself that you moron!" After all, Kingsley Amis said, "If you can't annoy somebody, there is little point in writing."
Thus, I came up with the phrase "Prose is a con." Eloquent, isn't it?
So again, for the nth time, I will release a list of stories that are up and coming in this site. Among them, two are sure to be posted within the month.
"Search" - Darkfic, drama, angst. Rated R for adult themes. No lime or lemon. Minimal cursing. Main characters: Kenshin, Kaoru, Kenji and Enishi. Summary: Kaoru has once again been kidnapped by Enishi, and as Kenshin embarks on a journey to find her, he finds something more…his son.
"Entranced" - Drama, minor-angst, minor romance and slightly A/U. Rated PG-13 for minimal cursing. Main characters: Kenshin, Tomoe and Kaoru. No, this isn't a love triangle. And there will be no supernatural turning back of time. Summary: Kenshin meets Kaoru on the streets of Edo for what seems to be the very first time, and we all know Kenshin will move in with Kaoru soon after it, but what went on in the Rurouni's mind when Kaoru challenged him to a fight? Why did he stay?
"The Queer Tales of Kamiya Kaoru" - Comedy, romance and slightly…shonen-ai and shoujou-ai!?!? Hey, don't knock it 'til you've read it, I say! Hehe…but I guess that ought to be a fair warning. It's not quite what you think, though. Rated R for adult themes, but there will be no lemon or lime. Main characters: Kaoru and a few other original characters. I think you'll like them! Summary: Kaoru changes the status quo with the help of two drag queens who prove to be fairy godmothers, in more ways than one.
"Fearless" - Comedy and romance. Rated PG. Main characters: Kaoru and the rest of the Gang. Summary: Kaoru is…dying?!?! Well, our dear Tanuki-chan wants to go out with a bang, so since she isn't afraid to die, she becomes an unwitting masked superhero of the Meiji era. How she gets into the fix wearing a costume to boot, you'll just have to read and see. As for the romance…Kenshin finds himself oddly attracted to superwoman…
"A Time for Healing" - Drama, romance, angst and POSSIBLY an A/P. Rated PG-13. Main characters: Kaoru, Enishi and Kenshin. Summary: It's been five years since Kenshin left the Kamiya dojo. Kaoru has come to terms with his departure, and though the heartbreak remains, she has accepted the cards fate has dealt her. Then a person from the past comes along to visit, seeking the answers that Kaoru thinks she has.
So there they are. Like I said, 2 of the bunch I've mentioned will surely be posted within the month.
I'll leave you now with a quote we might all find appropriate one way or another.
"Surfing on the Internet is like sex; everyone boasts about doing more than they actually do. But in the case of the Internet, it's a lot more." --Tom Fasulo

It's been a while since the last blurb…believe me, it's not because I'm lazy, but because for some reason or other, my PC isn't being nice to me. So once again, after being independent of my dear, sweet, site administrator, I must rely on him once more for my web site needs. I am now officially the Everlasting P.C. Moron.
This week (or month) will feature a special. U.S.-Summer movie reviews in relation to Rurouni Kenshin. How is that possible? In my twisted mind, anything is possible.
:: :: :: :: :: :: :: ::
Spiderman: A story about a mild mannered, oh-so-sweet dork who turns into a wall climbing, web swinging, wise-cracking, crime fighting super hero who wears red tight-ass costume! *Shlurp!*
Battou-man: A story about a mild mannered, oh-so-sweet dork who turns into a yellow-eyed, blood-lusting, rough-talking, crime fighting Meiji hero who has sexy red long hair! *Shlurp!*
:: :: :: :: :: :: :: ::
Episode 2 - Attack of the Clones: A story about an impulsive and passionate young man who's got mega-clout with the force and even mega-er clout with a beautiful senator chick. He carries around a sword and believes he could become the most powerful Jedi Master that ever lived. An army of clones is introduced into the saga, to pave the way for Darth Vader's forces.
Episode 30 - Attack of the Juppon Gatana: A story about a bandaged and passionate older guy who's got a mega-grudge with Battousai and an even mega-er grudge with the reformed government of Japan. He carries around a sword, has a geisha-doormat following him around, and he believes he could become the most powerful swordsman that ever lived. An army of 10 weirdos is introduced into the saga, to try and pave the way for Shishio Makoto's new society.
:: :: :: :: :: :: :: ::
40 Days and 40 Nights: A story about an average guy who swears off sex for 40 days and 40 nights, hence the title. He can't get no booty, no auto-erotica, no foreplay, no kissing…no nothing!
10 Years and 10 Months: A story about a rurouni who doesn't get any for 10 years and 10 months, assuming of course he doesn't get it on with a pretty kenjutsu instructor a few more years after the given time. He doesn't get any booty, no auto-erotica, no foreplay, no kissing…no nothing! Rurouni…GET A LIFE! Kaoru's definitely available.
:: :: :: :: :: :: :: ::
A Walk to Remember: A story about a guy and a girl who forms a deep relationship, inspiring each other to carpei themselves some diem. Mandy Moore does a decent acting job and Shane West is to die for. Lots of cheese to go with a hefty slab of ham and bread.
A Walk to Forget: A story about a guy and a girl who forms a deep relationship, inspiring each other to live life to the fullest…until the guy walks off to Kyoto with a "Sayonara!" to the girl. Kaoru does a decent crying scene and Kenshin should have been knuckle-punched to the next Bakumatsu. Lots of tomatoes, thrown by angry fangirls (including myself) because the baka-rurouni turned his back on the pretty kenjutsu instructor without so much as a friggin' kiss.
That's it folks. See ya!

The voting-period for the RK Readers' Choice 2001 Awards has come to an end, and I am deliriously happy to announce that thanks to all of you, these are the results:
Action/Adventure: "Run to You: Tales of Meiji 16" by Arashi
Comedy: "Mind of the Woman" by anna-neko
Drama: "Into the Clear" by Mikan
Romance (WAFF): "The Spy and the Hitokiri" by anna-neko
Adult Romance: "Fires of Amber" by anna-neko
DarkFic/Angst: "Windstorm" by Hikaru
YAOI/Shonen Ai: "He Who Chases Demons" by Kentaron
Fanfic of the Year: "Mind of the Woman" by anna-neko
Thank you everyone who voted for my stories. I am eternally grateful! I'm sure that everyone who ventured to write RK fanfiction posted their stories simply because they love RK and would like to share the experience with others, but to win an award is certainly a much appreciated bonus!
Now, as the RK Dreams Site Administrator told me, "DON'T LET IT GET TO YOUR HEAD!" which is, in my humble opinion, terrific advice. Comments and criticisms are always welcome. Constructive or otherwise (for beneath the flames and ashes, there lies a jewel of sense and wisdom, however small the value.) I can very well acknowledge the fact that I still need to improve my writing. Got my gripes about my own stories, and given the time, I'd make fun of my own stuff, but then, I ought to learn from my own mistakes, and perhaps the mistakes of others too.
Well, this here is the end of the blurb for now. Again, I'm very thankful for everyone's support. Congratulations to the other winners! And God bless!

Writer's Block is an evil, evil thing. The symptoms are simple:
(1) There is an overwhelming compulsion to sit in front of the PC;
(2) There is an overwhelming compulsion to reread most if not all of your previous work; and
(3) You've sat in front of the PC for more than 30 minutes and turned out SQUAT.
No cold sweats, no fever. The worse thing about it is, there is no documented remedy. The cure or "therapy" as I had grown accustomed to calling it, is different for each individual writer, sometimes it varies in EVERY INSTANCE of writer's block for the SAME author. Eating a gallon of ice cream can remedy the disease in one episode and will do nothing the next. It's infuriating.
I've always thought that TV-scriptwriters never run out of ideas, but then, there's this thing called a "rehash" where, for example, the latest episode of "Ally McBeal" looks strangely like a rendition of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", except that instead of a voluptuous seventeen year old ex-highschool-cheerleader-now-college-student who lives in an extremely creepy town known to be the Hellmouth, the viewer sees a 30-something hallucinating skinny-lawyer-turned-karate-expert who works in a weird law firm in New York, resurrecting, not the dead, but a hopeless murder case. Different, but not quite. The parallels are there, but you can't exactly put your finger on it.
I'm just glad to know that even the most brilliant authors can contract this strange "malady" called Writer's Block, and it's not because I'm stupid or anything.

Happy Anniversary!!!
Ya'll must be wondering what the heck this anniversary is. Well…it's between the RK Dreams Web Administrator and me. ^_^.
I just finished the entire story of "The Spy and the Hitokiri". So far, no one has really complained about it yet, which is always a good sign. Currently, I am starting on three stories that MIGHT be posted.
One is a Ranma 1/2 fic entitled "Cold". I'm working around the concept of Akane and her current situation in Nerima. The way Ranma is probably one of the worse fiancées a girl could have, the way everyone else is better than her in martial arts, and the way everyone perceives her as a bitch with a mallet. This'll be a drama.
Another is a Rurouni Kenshin fic I call "The Queer Tales of Kamiya Kaoru". A comedy of gender-bending proportions. It's about how Kamiya Kaoru, through the eyes of one named Shigeyatsu Kieko, changes the status quo. Who is she, you ask? Well, you'll find out if I ever release the Prologue. And yes, this is the story that involves a 2 Drag Queens, a posse of macho "dinosauric" men, a heterosexual woman who dresses like an adolescent boy, a lesbian, and a heterosexual man who has an identity crisis in the proverbial closet. Before you say I'm nuts, I would like to thank my Queenie friend Manuel, who encouraged me to write this because, he said, I don't have enough GLBT (Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender) in my stories, and that this was the right thing to do.
A third story brewing in my mind is an original. It's called "The Last of the Galynthye".
So, I'm very busy, and I must say goodbye, for now. ^_^. Thanks for checking in!!

Another day, another anime. In my endless quest to discover a new fix, I am constantly caught in a deprivation of anime romance, hence my tendency to write seek out satisfactory WAFF for an otherwise WAFF-less anime.
Anime after anime show hopeless couples, otherwise destined for each other, but never quite making it in the series. Of course, there's that rare "Love all the way" Anime like Fushigi Yuugi, Macross and Boys Be (there are probably some more out there, but I haven't found them), but just once, I'd like to see an anime couple who are constantly avoiding each other for the most part of the series, perhaps even trying to kill each other end up together in lovey-dovey bliss. It seems like a done deal that I will never hear Saotome Ranma (the mega-macho-jerk) and Tendou Akane (the mega-bi-atch) give their I¤Us to each other, nor will I ever see Ukiya Shun make googly eyes at Ikusawa Ruriko, and so forth…I think it's some sort of Anime Requirement. For a romantic like me, that a Shakespearean tragedy.
We can all use a little love nowadays, ne? Oh, I know…the movies have tons of it, and even J.K. Rowling hinted at it in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (when Percy got himself a girlfriend…what was she thingking?!?!) as well as in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Cho Chang, Hermione and Ginny partied that night of the Christmas Ball), but just once, I'd like to see it happen in my favorite anime. Gosh, even Ah! My Goddess! tends to shy away from it, and Keichi and Belldandy are supposed to be really in love.
Go figure. Life is not so very good to sessha. Thankfully, I've got a whole bunch of fanfics to give me a semblance of WAFF-iness. Pretend it's the real thing, and that Watsuki Nobuhiro-sama is actually making it happen.
In the meantime…my quest continues.

Not much going on for me here in NJ, just chillin on weekends and working on weekdays. I just finish building my new PC at home and probably I'll turn that into a development box. I just need a box where I could put all my shit and my ideas. And also I might turn it into a gaming box, I havent been playing too much PC games lately because of my PS2, and of course busy with other stuff. I just hate it sometimes how playing games could really waste your time. Lately I have just been playing GTA 3 in PS2, Im kinda bored with that game now so im thinking of some other alternatives. I know once warcraft comes out in PC I'll stop playing with my PS2, I have been waiting for warcraft to come out and it seems like it is taking forever, I just can't wait to get back on online gaming again.
Ok ok ok ....enough of computer talk now, hey Im not really just a computer geek I also go out. Last friday we went to Planet Rose and Parley somewhere in Ave A and 13th st. in Manhattan, it wasn't that bad but I have to say I wasn't able to have that much fun coz I wasn't feeling well. Im getting tired of writting now and I have to start doing some scripts again, ASP ASP ASP.....sometimes I just get tired of doing it.
